What is Netalive.org?

Far from the maddening crowds, a place to kick back and lead an intelligent discussion in peace. We respectfully ask the braindeads to stay outside. (New here?)

Best Good All

This bet will not in any way be fixed (it's impossible anyway).

I will pick a certain week.....July 13th through 19th. The bet is what will be the most important thing on the news that happens during the week. Of course it has to be broad because it so far in advance. If you bet, your answer has to be specific, nothing like president bush is going to make a speech.

*My bet is on the USA finding Saddam's body in Iraq* (I just realized how wrong I'm going to be, but this is the best (...)

Why do people do things over and over again, and pretend that they don't. I don't like it when people say one thing, and secretly mean something else but are just too pussy to say it. And its so obvious to other people around that the things they say they want or are doing is just a bunch of bullshit.

I'm guilty of this too. I hate myself sometimes for being stuck in a cyclical pattern. Some patterns tend to repeat themselves quickly, some take years...but its still a pattern. But at least (...)

Nanotechnology

Manufactured products are made from atoms. The properties of those products depend on how those atoms are arranged. If we rearrange the atoms in coal, we get diamonds. If we rearrange the atoms in sand, (and add a pinch of impurities) we get computer chips. If we rearrange the atoms in dirt, water and air, we get grass.

Since we first made stone tools and flint knives we have been arranging atoms in great thundering statistical herds by casting, milling, grinding, (...)

If anyone has ever read 14,000 things to be Happy About, you know where I'm going with this.

The purpose of this topic, I hope, is for people to post any trivial thing that they enjoy, things that may seem strange or things that are common that people just take simple pleasure from.

My List (for a start)
1. chocolat covered straberries (with warm melted chocolate)
2. Camping in the mountains
3. rainy days when the rain taps on your windows and roof
4. the crackle (...)

Dear citizens of NAO,

it saddens me deeply that I had to take the measures described in this post, but please try to understand that the current situation did not leave me with any other choice.

For years, the Geek Factor™ found in the profile of every user on Netalive.org has been proven again and again to be a most precise, internationally accepted measure of geekdom.

Personnel divisions all over the globe rely on the geek factor as a concise profile of their job applicant (...)

I'm not sure if any other places do the 40 hour famine but alot of people in Australia do. Basically you give up food or something else important for 40 hours and get to sponsor you. the money goes to World Vision to do whatever they do where ever they do it.

i decided I didn't want to give up food for 40 hours as i had some problems a while ago and stopped eating and found the hardest part was STARTING to eat once again.

i was then faced with a problem...what do I give up? technology (...)
