Back in school...

?% | 1

Well, I am back in school, learning again, but this time I have a better schedule, which means easier learning. :]
This quarter I am taking Psychology, English Composition, and Operating Systems. Hurrah for me!!!
Well, I guess there is not much else to say, I hope school goes as well as I think it will.

I should be ashamed of myself.

You'll be the perfect IT support person. Either you solve their problems or you can make them believe that it's all their fault.

Yeah that is always a plus, pointing the finger can solve any problem. I wish I did it more often. By the way don't you do IT?

I should be ashamed of myself.

Well, as long as you do good is school, thats ok. I took psycology my freshman year in high school (2 years ago) and it was pretty fun... of course the guy I liked at the time was also in that class, and he made it an awesome experience for me... anywho, I bet you'll do a great job in that class... but if at all possible, avoid the ink blots... the look like ink!

DUH

Athena, here and there...

Is the job actually worth doing. I mean I am taking my classes because I am enthralled by the boundless power of the computer and would enjoy taking advantage of it. I am barely thinking about getting a job, but moreso the fun of playing with computers. I do like the idea of money though...

I should be ashamed of myself.

Phew, I'd say the same rules as for every other job apply - if it's what you like to do, and if you find a half-decent employer, you'll enjoy it.
There will be times when you'll get work you don't like. There will be times when you'll be frustrated, be it at your boss or customers asking you to do stupid things or not valuing your work because they lack the knowledge you have and there's nothing you can do about it. There will be times when you call home from the office to inform your family that you'll get home very late today because you have shitloads of urgent work to do.

The best advice I can give you, and mind you I'm neither a professional careers officer nor a motivational speaker: pick a job you like, set objectives, and focus on reaching these objectives with the appropriate amount of motivation and energy. Don't get discouraged when there's a time you're not content with what you're doing, because that happens to everyone once in a while... but think again when that period of unhappiness lasts several years. I know enough people in the IT sector who make shitloads of money and drive fancy cars I could never afford, but most of them are always stressed out unsatisfied and never have time for anything besides work. In view of big money it's easy to forget about the really important things in life. Don't lose track of the things that matter to you. Yeah, that's probably the best all-purpose advice I can give you.

Basic tenet: Enjoy your job, get rich, work within the law. Pick any two.

When life hands you a lemon, that's 40% of your RDA of vitamin C taken care of.

I'm thinking I could live with that.

I should be ashamed of myself.
