Just a note

?% | 1

Hi All,

No, I am not fully back. Still not getting time for personal stuff. Life is doing good, am all tied up with a new job, new responsibilities, and things are moving at an extra-fast pace. The moment things settle down a bit, I will try to be regular here. I do miss writing at NAO, and do miss the people here, and I do hope that everyone's doing good.

Just a brief info on whoever's interested:- Moving to Vancouver, Canada was not a bad choice afterall. In April I joined a new company, and since then things have changed for me in many ways. I have finally got a job that I love, after job-hopping for the last 8 years in about 8 companies. I love the people here, and I love the new challenges and the new responsibilities. On personal front, my family had moved to Vancouver in February, and they are doing really good now. My wife has started working and hence both of us fight less (as we end up seeing less of each other ;-) ). Our kids are doing great, Kriti has started going to pre-school now, and she is really enjoying it.

My parents are not living with us anymore, and we bought a new car. Still house-hunting, finding a decent place to live in Vancouver is an NP-Complete problem. I love the place, the weather is great, the people are great, the country is great, the only thing missing is a place that we can afford!

Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye opener.

Re: Just a note

Life's been good so far but last couple of years have been really crazy. I left my $125K job to launch my own custom software company in Dec 2006 with 3 other partners. At first we struggled - earning just around $14K in 6 months. All my savings got lost, but then the company did really well. We ended up making a cool $1 million by the end of 2007.

And, then 2 of the partners, including me, realized that 1 of the partners was playing a very bad game with us. Everything between us was based on trust, and when he saw the money coming in, he got greedy. I didn't even get 90K at the end of the year, the other partner didn't even get 80K, while the greedy one was sitting on >$500K of the profits. It was a disaster. I considered that guy my mentor. Because of him I even dreamt big and left my nice job. Anyways, lesson learnt, and from now on I will make sure that any kind of business relationships need to be signed on a piece of paper. There will be nothing based on trust. All the other partners went separate ways by January of 2008.

I am still in Vancouver, applied from my Canadian citizenship that I might get by the end of this year, or earlier. Started another company Kriti Technologies, still doing custom software development, got a nice client, and life's been much better since I left my previous venture.

Both Kriti and Purvaai have grown up a lot now. I still remember that when I joined NAO, Kriti was about to be born. She is 6.25 now, while Purvaai is 3.5. Kriti has turned out to be more shy and reserved like me, while Purvaai talks non-stop. They have totally forgotten to talk in Hindi now though that's what we speak at home. They just like to talk in Canadian English that we sometimes find hard to understand.

Purvaai is fond of making stories and doesn't let anyone else talk when she is talking - which is usually all the time. Just yesterday Purvaai was talking about how the tooth fairy came and took her loose tooth away, and then gave her dollars and gave her a new purse. The thing is that she doesn't have a loose tooth, and never had one. She hasn't even started going to school. Don't know where she learns all this stuff.

Kriti is a master at playing computer games. She just spends most of her time on the laptop browsing various games websites, and doesn't stop playing till she has crossed at least 12 levels in every game that she picks up to play. She spends the rest of her time riding her bike outside the house and has become the leader of the neighbourhood. There is not a single house or road that doesn't have her trademark art that she keeps making everywhere she goes using chalk and water. She is going to become a nice artist like her mom. Purvaai is more into ballet, watching movies, and making stories. Kriti is more into art and gymnastics.

We bought another house here in Vancouver last year (our Houston house in USA is still not sold). Though we are now planning to move to Calgary as my wife has more opportunities there. She is working for a travel agency right now in Vancouver for last 3 years, and now has many other plans that might materialise if we move to Calgary. But, real estate market in Canada is crashing just like in USA, though things haven't gone into the negative territory yet, but they are not increasing like it used to till last year, and right now we are barely breaking even at our current sale price and its been 4 months since we put our house on market and its still not sold. If the house sells we will move to Calgary immediately, if it doesn't, we will stay out here.

I wouldnt mind if you posted the URL to your site in here, anyway. The only two sites that contained the terms "Kriti" and "Technologies" dont look very promising and rather NOT like proper business sites .. so I wouldnt ask if I had found your site myself ;)

Re: Just a note

I still haven't got the time to build my own site yet. I just have the domain name registered: http://www.krititechnologies.com/ and hopefully in the next couple of months I will make the website.
